Borussia Dortmund lets fans design a jersey

The football club Borussia Dortmund gives its fans the opportunity to design the home jersey for the 2023/24 season.

“Our jersey wears us all – in good times and bad. That’s why we want to collect your ideas and suggestions: whether crocheted, painted, 3D-animated or with potato print – it doesn’t matter! From now on it’s called: Design datt Ding ”, announced the Bundesliga club on Friday. The sponsor areas – including for the current jersey supplier Puma – must remain free on the chest and sleeves.

The competition runs from January 7th to February 6th. A jury then selects nine designs for which fans can then vote. The jury includes the Brazilian soccer player Dedé, Dirk Gebhardt, design dean of the FH Dortmund, actors Frederick Lau, Lucia Walter, team head Graphic Design Apparel / Team Sport at Puma, and soccer player Gina Glänzer.

Jerseys are an important topic for fans when it comes to their favorite club. It is a statement that represents the city and the association. It can therefore also happen that a jersey that does not meet the expectations of the supporters leads to resentment. This was the case at BVB last year. An original version of the Champions League jersey came to the public without the club crest. The logo was added “barely recognizable,” reported the DPA. Björn Gulden, CEO of the Puma outfitter, apologized to the fans.

The original price of BVB jerseys for women is 79.99 euros and for men 84.99 euros.
