US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken declined to comment on UK statements about Russia’s desire to bring a loyal leader to power in Ukraine, answering the question whether the States agree with these accusations during the interview TV channel CNN.

Blinken declined to comment on the matter, but noted that the United States had long warned about the possibility of Russia using such tactics, including publicly. He recalled that last week, measures were taken against four Ukrainians – Russian agents who are accused of trying to destabilize the government.

Blinken clarified that this is not proof that Russia is planning an attack on Ukraine, but shows that Moscow is using different scenarios to achieve its goals.

Earlier, the British Foreign Office said that Russia is seeking to install a “pro-Russian leader” in Kiev. As a candidate for this role, the statement of the ministry named the former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Yevhen Muraev, who was included in the sanctions list by Russia in 2018.
