Basketball players Apollo in quarantine, duel against Donar declared lost

The basketball match between Apollo Amsterdam and Donar in Groningen will not take place tonight. The game that was scheduled for 8 p.m. has been canceled due to a corona infection among the Amsterdammers. In addition, due to the rules of the BNXT League, the game has been declared lost to the disadvantage of Apollo

Last Monday, an Apollo staff member tested positive for corona. Because this person had been in contact with the entire team during the match with BAL the day before, Apollo chose to follow the guidelines of the GGD. As a result, the entire selection and technical staff have been quarantined.

Legally lost match

According to the protocols of the BNXT League, matches must be played when a minimum of five players are available. Amsterdam cannot therefore meet this condition and the logical consequence is that tonight’s home game against Donar has therefore been cancelled. In addition, this means that the competition will legally go down in the books as a loss for Apollo.

Amsterdam is in sixth place in the BNXT League. The team of coach Wierd Goedee has obtained 23 points from seventeen matches.
