Espanyol’s spell in derbies continues. With everything in their favor and the match languishing, the Blue and Whites let two points slip away. The start of 2022 for Vicente Moreno’s men is something to make them look at. Two points out of a possible fifteen and eliminated from the Copa del Rey, the worst streak of the season.

These are the notes of Espanyol in the derby.

defenses

Diego Lopez (7). libero. Nothing could do the lucense in the goals culés. Yes, he put his chest in a whiplash from Adama that smelled like the second. He knew how to read the game well and go out to cut when Barcelona looked for the back of the defense.

Alex Vidal (4). Accelerated. Hyperactive, scratchy and protesting, even when the faults seemed clear. Gavi did not challenge him, although he controlled his offensive surges. He ended up cramping from the effort.

Sergio Gomez (5). Tempered. The Catalan central defender is hypotensive. He made a couple of poor deliveries in construction because of his lack of focus.

Cabrera (5). Cold. As soon as you take him out of his comfort zone, the Uruguayan loses integers. Pedri eats his toast at 0-1 and, fortunately for him, Gavi’s goal does not go up on the scoreboard. He had been photographed.

Pedrosa (6). unbraved. She had to dance with the least graceful. Adama showed him the exhaust pipe on more than one occasion and forced him to procrastinate in attack.

Midfielders

Keidi Bare (4). pizza maker. He handed out and left tips at every crash. One of his tackles knocked out Araujo. Vicente Moreno replaced him to avoid greater evils.

darter (8). Magical. The Balearic appeared when Espanyol needed him most. His driving and vision of the game are delicious. The strike at 1-1, ‘made in Artà’.

Blacksmith (4). Missing. The Venezuelan returned to ownership in the kind of trivote that Vicente Moreno hatched. With less presence than usual. The lack of rhythm was noted.

Vilhenna (4). Lost. Everything that he taught in San Mamés, where he was the best blue and white, was diluted in the derby.

strikers

Handful (6). Restrained. The youth squad is pure talent, although he also knows when to sacrifice himself. With no opportunities to shine, Puado put on his workman’s overalls.

From Thomas (8). ‘new look’. He promised the man from Madrid strong emotions and got what he set out to do. He took all the colors of the Pantone scale from Eric García in the 2-1 action, in which he did not forgive in the one-on-one with Ter Stegen.

Substitutes

Morlanes (sc). Seen and unseen. A few minutes after entering he left injured. Bad news.

Melamed (sc). He entered Piqué’s game and ended up being sent off. He must serve you to learn.

Merida (sc). She contributed little in midfield.

lime (sc). He came out to control the 2-1. He did not fulfill his mission.
