Balcony collapses in Koksijde, worker sustains fractures

The incident happened at a construction site on Strandlaan in Koksijde. Emergency services rushed to the scene around 1:23 p.m. The MUG is also present.

Badly injured

It is not yet clear how the balcony collapsed. There is, however, knowledge of a worker who ended up under the debris and was trapped. “The person was released from his predicament fairly quickly,” the Westhoek Fire Brigade said.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries with multiple fractures. The fire brigade removed the fragments that threatened to fall. West Coast Police came to the scene to make the necessary determinations.

The day before yesterday, another worker on another site fell fifty feet down an elevator shaft.
