Although only 2,000 spectators were allowed in the Hamburger Volkspark, the derby between HSV and St. Pauli was still a heated one. It looked like points for the guests for a long time – until Bakery Jatta came.
After five derbies without a win, Hamburger SV has beaten FC St. Pauli again. On Friday evening, the “Red Pants” won 2-1 in their home Volkspark Stadium. St. Pauli still led 1-0 at the break through a goal by Guido Burgstaller (30th minute). But in the second half, HSV was only able to equalize through captain Sebastian Schonlau (58′), before Bakery Jatta made the decision with a shot worth seeing (70′).
In the parallel game, Nuremberg celebrated an important victory in Düsseldorf.
Hamburger SV vs. FC St. Pauli
In front of 2,000 spectators in the Volkspark, including 200 guest fans, HSV started in the north German drizzle with a lot of momentum and great commitment. “Full Lotte”, HSV coach Tim Walter had given as the route to take on Sky, “we want to show that we are at home here.” His team started accordingly briskly: Moritz Heyer with a header against the post (6th) and Miro Muheim (10th) from distance had two good chances.
St. Pauli only freed itself from the grip after 15 minutes, the derby now became a duel on an equal footing. The Kiezkicker seemed more present now – and hit ice cold. After a header from Etienne Amenyido, Burgstaller, who had not scored in three games in a row, headed in from close range. It was the first goal of the year for the Austrian.

HSV also opened the second half with a lot of pressure – and this time it was rewarded. After a cross from Sonny Kittel, Schonlau was initially allowed to head in unhindered from three meters to equalize. HSV now got the upper hand and pushed for the lead. Kittel finally shone again as a preparer, Jatta finally turned the game with a direct acceptance. In the table, HSV jumped to third place overnight and is only three points behind leader St. Pauli.
Fortuna Dusseldorf – 1. FC Nuremberg
After the third defeat in a row and only one win from the last ten competitive games, head coach Christian Preuß is about to be eliminated at Fortuna Düsseldorf. The Rhinelanders lost 1-0 to 1. FC Nuremberg (0-1) and are slipping deeper and deeper into the relegation battle. The Franconians, on the other hand, moved up to fourth place for at least a day with their third win from the last four away games. In front of 750 spectators in the Merkur Spiel-Arena, Lino Tempelmann (2nd) scored the goal for the guests to win.
Preußer, who turns 38 on Sunday, was able to fall back on defense chief Andre Hoffmann after a break of more than two months and promised himself more stability and better organization. But the hosts were caught off guard after just 103 seconds when Tempelmann was able to walk through the Düsseldorf defense without resistance and scored with a deflected shot to make it 1-0 for Nuremberg. Shortly afterwards he even had the chance to make it 2-0.
Fortuna organized themselves and had good chances to score through Robert Bozenik (35’/45′) and Edgar Prib (36′). But Nuremberg remained dangerous and dominated the game over long stretches. After an action by Christopher Schindler, Düsseldorf keeper Florian Kastenmeier was able to direct the ball to the crossbar (54′), but the hosts were no longer able to win a point.
