B2B division Scayle becomes separate company

Almost two years ago, About You bundled its B2B business under the Scayle brand, and the Hamburg online retailer has now spun off the business unit into its own company.

About You announced on Thursday that Scayle GmbH is a separate company alongside the online fashion store. With the spin-off as a separate subsidiary, for which around 300 employees work, the existing management team will be promoted to management.

From the management team to the board of directors

Tobias Ring, who, according to his profile on the LinkedIn career network, has held the title of Director Growth Services since August 2021, is responsible for new customer business at the new GmbH. René Dalock, who has been working at About You for almost 5 years, takes over Customer Success Management. Christopher Metz, previously Director Cloud & IT Operation, is now responsible for infrastructure & platform and Sergio Sola is now responsible for engineering at Scayle GmbH. The management team around the four managing directors is also to be supplemented by other positions that have not yet been mentioned.

“We are convinced that the step of positioning Scayle as an independent company will accelerate the success story even further,” says Tarek Müller, co-founder and co-CEO of the About You Group. “Our goal is to offer our corporate customers the best possible support. Structurally, Scayle is now in the best possible position to continue to drive growth with more autonomy and flexibility.”

Business development “very positive” despite difficult market situation in e-commerce

Scayle started when About You decided in 2018 to market its shop software as a licensed product and other business services to other companies. The idea grew into Scaley over the years, not least due to the modular structure of the commerce technology, which allows customers to put together the system individually and scale their digital business quickly and flexibly. Added to this is multi-shop management, which enables the development of an international D2C business and a completely localizable customer experience. More than 140 shops use the Scayle technology today, including brands such as s.Oliver, Fielmann, Edited and Marc O’Polo.

In 2022, the then Director Growth Services at Scayle and current Managing Director Tobias Ring summarized the success story of the enterprise shop system, which at that time was able to record sales of 67 million euros and growth of 90 percent, in an interview with FashionUnited. The trend seems to be continuing because, according to the announcement, the development of Scayle is still very positive, despite the difficult market situation in e-commerce.
