Augsburg shoots down Nuremberg’s emergency team

With a small squad without a chance: As feared, the Nuremberg Ice Tigers suffered a clear defeat in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

In the Augsburg Panthers, the Franconians, who played with only eleven players, lost 4:9 (2:4, 1:2, 1:3). Due to numerous corona infections, the Ice Tigers no longer had players available, they could only put up two lines of attack.

Most recently, Nuremberg had already conceded a 1:10 at ERC Ingolstadt. The games scheduled during the week against games at Red Bull Munich (Wednesday) and against Adler Mannheim (Friday) were then canceled because Nuremberg could not muster a capable team.

Nuremberg is eighth in the table, Augsburg is eleventh. The Ice Tigers are now hoping that the situation will improve significantly during the Olympic break.
