Attacker Lang avoids punishment after red card

Striker Noa Lang of Club Brugge does not have to fear sanctions after his red card in the final phase of Sunday’s lost home game against KAA Gent (1-2). According to the prosecutor’s office of the Belgian Football Association, the exclusion is sufficient and the Dutch winger will not be prosecuted further.

Lang said after the game that he did not know why he had been sent off. According to a teammate, the former Ajax player would have touched a hand of the referee when he protested against the second yellow card for his teammate Eder Balanta.

Club Brugge coach Alfred Schreuder also expressed his surprise afterwards about Lang’s red card. “The arbitrator’s statement made no sense. He said that Noa touched him and wanted to take the card. But everyone can see in the images that he did nothing,” Schreuder told Sporza.
