Art Rooijakkers gets a kick out of Angela de Jong: ‘So nothing!’

A job in television does not necessarily mean that you have personality. Vivienne van den Assem is a good example of this, but Art Rooijakkers has also been muddled on television for years.

The interviews that Art Rooijakkers holds with fellow celebrities in his program Rooijakkers over the Floor all have one thing in common: they are downright sleep-inducing. Not only because of the boring guests – think of Patrick Martens, Kees van der Spek and Diederik Ebbinge recently – but especially because of the extremely salt-free interview style.

Tram further

According to Private star journalist Jan Uriot, it does not help that Art only draws stars from the same circle for the camera. “Art Rooijakkers only takes tram line 19 from his home,” he says in his Wat Vindt Jan section.

According to Jan, Art’s guests all live in the same neighbourhood. “He goes to Patrick Martens, has just been to Frank Lammers and Diederik Ebbinge. Well, they all live in Amsterdam-East in the Watergraafsmeer, so he only has to take tram 19 from his home. Then I think: take a tram further.”

“So silly!”

Angela de Jong mentions Art in her latest AD column, in which she tackles the meager programming of RTL 4. This week, the channel launched the bad quiz Do You Follow Me Yet?. “I would have happily ignored this entire show in this place, if it weren’t exemplary of the lethargic state of RTL’s prime-time programming.”

Art contributes to that, Angela sums up. “It’s more of the same – another season of Help my husband is a handyman, another derivative of The Masked Singer – or it’s nothing like what, like Snackmasters, Rooijakkers all over the floor and so are you still following me?”

Art doesn’t listen

Wow, that’s some serious criticism. Fortunately, Art doesn’t get all that. At least, he claims not to read any columns and opinions, least of all Angela’s. “No, and neither do her colleagues. Because that’s of no use to me,” he said some time ago.

And the viewer? He doesn’t listen to that either. “What I do listen to are the counselors around me. Those are my feelers.”
