Her name was Soufiane Loukar, she was the captain of Mc Saida, the Algerian second division team. He died in the field at the age of 30 of suspected cardiac arrest. In a tragedy that has thrown Algerian football into despair.

The accident

According to the first reconstructions, Loukar had momentarily left the field in a match played in Oran, over 4 hours by car west of the capital Algiers, after a game clash that had caused him a head injury. Remained on the sideline for a few minutes, Loukar returned to the pitch to continue the match. After a few minutes, however, he collapsed to the ground due to an apparent cardiac arrest: attempts to revive him were useless. The game was immediately suspended.
