After the biathlon World Cup in Switzerland, the World Cup continues in Nove Mesto. DSV star Justus Strelow looks ahead of the end of the season in his column for sports.de.

I used a week at home to win a little distance from the hustle and bustle of the biathlon season before the World Cup in Nove Mesto from Thursday. I was comfortable with my wife Elli on one evening, otherwise it was a normal working week that I used for high -quality training.

In the Czech Republic, the third trimester begins with the three final World Cups of the season. While some athletes may already have their sheep dry, I burn it to attack properly again and make soil well in the overall World Cup. I am currently in 17th place, but my goal is a place in the top 15.

While I was already plenty of flat at the time last year, I feel physically well in shape before starting Nove Mesto. I am motivated and wide awake. In addition, Tobias Reiter, who surprisingly took over the office as chief coach from us German men after the World Cup.

So far I have not had any major points of contact with him, but what I heard from the boys from the IBU Cup was consistently positive. There Tobias was considered a very structured trainer who maintains a good exchange with his athletes. I look forward to the collaboration!

The route in Nove Mesto is like me, I like her rhythm. For the challenging attempt to the shooting range, I have to put on the right plan. After a longer descent, it goes uphill again and then into a clear straight into the stadium.

It depends on switching from route mode to the shooting range mode at the right time and starting with conscious breathing. I have to be prepared that a lot of movement can be on the weapon. But I don’t have any problems, especially when I was lying down, so I want to play my strength.

Every World Cup location has its special snow. In Nove Mesto there are usually temperatures above the freezing point that let the artificial snow thale. The snow there is quite dirty, probably also because it is often often heated with coal. The snow thaws, the dirt remains and has presented our technicians with challenges in the past. Here, too, I am full of confidence: you will find an optimal solution for us.
