After NS, EBS and Arriva will also go on strike: this is what it means to you

The days of public transport strikes are not over. After the staff of NS, employees of regional transporters also decide to stop working for two days. And that includes EBS and Arriva.

The FNV trade union announced this. The biggest day of strike is on Friday 16 September, when there is a national action for which travelers have to provide alternative transport. In the days before the sixteenth there are regional strikes.

These are the strike days per province:

  • Tuesday September 6: Flevoland, South Holland and Zeeland.
  • Wednesday 7 September: North Holland and Utrecht.
  • Thursday 8 September: Gelderland, Brabant and Limburg.
  • Friday 9 September: Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe and Overijssel.

During the strike, there will be no buses from EBS and Arriva all day. Since NS will not go on strike, you can still leave the city by train.

City Transporters in Zoetermeer

Does the strike mean that there will be no bus at all in Zoetermeer on September 6 and September 16? Not necessarily. Employees of city transporters HTM, RET and GVB are not participating in the strike. They fall under a different collective agreement. So you can still use the RandstadRail.

Past strikes

The new actions are a follow-up to the strikes that took place in the summer. Then a relay strike was held. On June 1, there were largely no EBS buses running. HTM went on strike on 2 June and for Zoetermeer this meant that the RandstadRail was not running.

Why is it discontinued

The employees of EBS and Arriva are going on strike because they want more staff to be added, which can reduce the workload. According to them, this is only possible through higher wages and permanent contracts.
