Jeff Baena was found dead in his home in Los Angeles on Friday, January 3, 2025. The screenwriter, director and husband of actress Aubrey Plaza was 47 years old. Now Plaza, together with the family of the deceased, has publicly commented on the death for the first time.

According to “Spiegel”, the relatives, including Aubrey Plaza, reported: “It is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered their support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
The surviving relatives of Baena, who, according to the medical examiner’s office, committed suicide, did not provide any further information.

The indie director, born in Miami, graduated from NYU Film School in New York before moving to Los Angeles to pursue his career. His works, which he not only wrote but also directed, include “Joshy” (2016), “Horse Girl” (2020) and the 2022 film “Spin Me Around”.
