After Corona outbreak: HSV game against Erzgebirge Aue is postponed, football | 2nd Bundesliga – NDR – Regional

The game was scheduled for Saturday (1:30 p.m.). However, HSV was only able to complete its training on Friday afternoon with 13 field players and four goalkeepers. According to the DFL announcement, the Hamburgers reported another positive corona finding on Friday evening. As a result, the team was no longer able to play. It is not yet clear when the home game will be rescheduled.

Boldt calls the decision “logical”

HSV board member Jonas Boldt rated the association’s decision as logical in a statement from the club. “Unfortunately, we are not able to play in the current situation and will continue to work in close coordination with everyone involved to prevent the infection situation from spreading further and to be able to get back into the competition as soon as possible,” he said. According to the club, “a large part of the squad and staff had contracted the corona virus”. HSV then submitted an application for the game to be rescheduled on Thursday.

Aue was on his way

The opposing team from Aue made their way to Hamburg on Friday afternoon because they didn’t want to wait any longer for a decision from the DFL. “If the game is not canceled, we assume that the game will be played. We can’t just leave for Hamburg at 5 p.m.,” said the Saxons.

Düsseldorf obviously has to compete

Düsseldorf also made the trip to Paderborn for the away game, although Fortuna had also submitted an application for the game to be relocated. 14 players in Düsseldorf, including head coach Daniel Thioune, are currently affected by a corona infection. “We have not yet received any final feedback from the DFL. We must therefore assume that the game will take place,” said sports director Christian Weber on Friday afternoon. The game is scheduled for Saturday (1:30 p.m.).

According to the DFL rules of play, at least 16 licensed players and/or amateurs/contract players eligible to play in the licensed team must be available. These 16 players must include at least nine licensed players, including a goalkeeper. Blocked and injured are considered “available”.
