After a Tinder relationship of two months, Bas started stalking his ex for years

Bas and Loes got into a relationship in the summer of 2020, after getting to know each other through Tinder. But Loes broke up after two months and that did not appeal to Bas. He was disappointed and frustrated and started stalking her. He placed profiles of Loes with her telephone number and address on sex and dating sites. Bas also placed orders in the name of Loes. If it is up to the judiciary, Bas must be treated for his delusional disorder as soon as possible.

Bas N. (52) from Eindhoven stood trial on Thursday before the court in Den Bosch for years of stalking Loes. According to the public prosecutor, he cannot just end up on the street without treatment. The chance that he will harass his ex again is high.

Neither had come to court. Loes told her story through her lawyer. When she briefly had a relationship with Bas, she noticed that he was very negative about his ex-wife and another ex. The anger and hatred frightened Loes so much that she broke off the relationship.

Nightmare
Then the stalking started. Two years and four months long, according to Loes. Her life turned into a nightmare. Bas sent thousands of text messages to her from no less than sixty different telephone numbers. He also called hundreds of times, sent countless emails, sent dick pics and videos and posted stories about her on his social media.

He also sent her a photo of her house in Zutphen, suggesting that he had been at her door. Other people also received e-mails, including high officials in the police and judiciary, to whom Bas drew attention to his case. Each time Loes was in the cc. She lived in constant fear that he would send something again.

Anxious
Loes told how afraid she had been for Bas. Although she wanted no more contact, he kept harassing her. She was mortified and feels hurt and humiliated.

Bas, who also did not come to the hearing, has partly confessed that he sent messages to Loes, but also denies a large part of the stalking. According to his lawyer, Peter Schouten, Loes did not go unpunished either. The conversations by email or by Whatsapp that were discussed in court were not so nice:

Bas: “You thought you were rid of me, but you will never get rid of me.”
Loes: “Get a life, but that will be difficult with your limitations.”

delusional disorder
A psychologist’s report shows that Bas suffers from a delusional disorder. He is autistic and sees things that are not there. He is also quite suspicious. This went well for years, but after he got divorced and lost his job, things went wrong.

He had many short-lived relationships, where he kept showing the same behavior. Several exes were therefore in the room to hear how Loes’ case was handled. She has a ‘fellowship club’ with various exes, as she described it herself.

All parties in the court were looking for what is now best for Bas N. The common thread that was found was therefore: help. The public prosecutor demanded seven months in prison, plus three months probation if he goes wrong again. She wants to achieve that Bas N., who has been detained for almost half a year, can go straight from the cell to a clinic in a month. She also demanded a duty to report, supervision and a restraining order. And every time Bas violates that, he would have to go to jail for a week.

The verdict is on September 20.

Loes is not the real name of the victim.
