Hardy Krüger died on Wednesday (January 19, 2021) in Palm Springs, California. According to “Spiegel”, his death was confirmed by his spokesman. The actor, who also worked as a writer, was 93 years old. “His warmth of heart, his joie de vivre and his unshakable sense of justice will make him unforgettable,” they said in the course of the news of his death, which unexpectedly hit family, friends and colleagues.
Hardy Kruger: Career in Hollywood
Hardy Krüger was born in Berlin, but his homeland also included Hamburg and the US state of California. Because after the end of the Second World War, his career as an internationally celebrated Hollywood star began. After his role in “One Came Through” he starred alongside John Wayne in “Hatari” and also in the Oscar-winning “Sonntage mit Sybill”, which was released in 1963, Hardy Krüger was seen as a guilty Vietnam veteran. In this country, Hardy Krüger was awarded, among other things, the Grand Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The list of films in which Krüger acted is long – he was involved in over 75 films throughout his life. Among others, he was seen together with Cathérine Deneuve, Peter Finch and Sean Connery. The talent also made a name for itself as a writer – in “A Farm in Africa” he describes his love for East Africa, which was awakened by the filming of “Hatari”.
