After just one year, Pirmin Schwegler is turning his back on Eintracht: the ex-professional is to become the new sports director at league rivals Wolfsburg.

Pirmin Schwegler is leaving Eintracht Frankfurt after just one year. According to information from hr-sport, the 38-year-old is moving to VfL Wolfsburg, where he will become the new sports director. Kicker and Sky, among others, had previously reported.

Schwegler, who was already active as a player for Eintracht, started working for the Hessians as head of professional football on January 1, 2025 – as support for sports director Markus Krösche and sports director Timmo Hardung.

Schwegler should be Schindzielorz’s successor

The position of sports director at VfL Wolfsburg has been vacant since the separation from Sebastian Schindzielorz a few weeks ago. Schwegler’s move to Lower Saxony could take place soon. According to Sky, Eintracht could receive a transfer fee of 500,000 euros.
