Julia Simon is ready for the Biathlon World Cup after her conviction and subsequent ban. The French Ski Association has nominated the top performer for the competitions in Hochfilzen.

Julia Simon is competing in the Biathlon World Cup again after her ban. The French Ski Association nominated the 29-year-old for the competitions in Hochfilzen, which begin on Friday. The ten-time world champion appeared in court on October 24th because she is said to have used the bank cards of her teammate Justine Braisaz-Bouchet and a physiotherapist from the French team to make purchases worth up to 2,400 euros.

She was also accused of stealing small amounts of money between 20 and 50 euros. After her confession and a public apology, Simon received a three-month suspended sentence and a fine of 15,000 euros.

The French Ski Federation’s disciplinary committee then imposed a six-month ban, five of which were suspended. This came into effect on November 7th and resulted in Simon missing the World Cup opener in Östersund, Sweden. In addition to the ban, a further fine of 30,000 euros was imposed, of which 15,000 euros were suspended.

The 7.5 kilometer sprint as well as the relay and pursuit are now on the program in Hochfilzen. The competitions start on Friday at 2:15 p.m. (in the t-online live ticker). The relay and pursuit will follow until Sunday.
