About You enters into a partnership with Momox.
About You announced on Wednesday that the second-hand range of the Hamburg online fashion retailer will quadruple in the coming months as a result of the cooperation with the fashion division of the re-commerce specialist, Momox Fashion. An exact date for the introduction of the Momox range in About You’s “Second Love” category has not yet been announced.
Since 2020, About You customers have also been able to buy used, quality-checked clothing there. The retailer already cooperates with second-hand suppliers such as Vite EnVogue for its range, but the Momox range is now set to become the largest.
“With Momox Fashion, we can massively expand our Second Love range, create valuable synergies and meet our common goal of promoting a more sustainable approach to fashion,” says Tarek Müller, Co-CEO of About You.
Consolidation of position in the second-hand fashion industry
For both companies, the partnership is a milestone in advancing the circular economy, but also in strengthening their own position in the second-hand fashion industry. About You is cementing its position as one of the largest platforms for quality-assured second-hand fashion in Europe, the statement says, while the Momox subsidiary continues to expand its presence in this space.
“The cooperation with About You is an important step for Momox, because it means we can now offer our customers even broader access to our products,” says Heiner Kroke, CEO of Momox SE.
The partnership was announced just a few days after About You ended its collaboration with the insolvent second-hand platform girls flea market. The cooperation with Momox should not be the only innovation for About You’s second-hand range in the long term. This was expanded to include an upcycling offer as early as 2021, and the online retailer is now also testing various ways of connecting customers and brands directly to the category.
