A test to identify the omicron strain has been developed in Russia – RBK

The scientific organizations of Rospotrebnadzor have developed a test that can be used to find out whether a person with coronavirus is infected with the omicron strain or not. This was announced by the General Director of “Vector” Rinat Maksyutov, reports “RIA News”

“In the scientific organizations of Rospotrebnadzor, test systems have additionally been developed that not only allow detecting all variants of SАRS-CoV-2, but also additionally differentiate the omicron variant,” said Maksyutov. He explained that such a test allows you to find out if a person is infected with SАRS-CoV-2, and in case of a positive result, you can also find out if it is “omicron” or not.

Maksyutov noted that the test systems are now undergoing laboratory studies, after which, if necessary, they will be registered and used.
