Fanny has made a good marriage, her husband is rich and charming, but his affairs are mysterious. Tired of that too chic world, she meets an old schoolmate by chance, bohemian writer: adultery is inevitable, an option as romantic as it is dangerous. And thank goodness that her mother (Lemercier, a delight) is watching over.
Woody Allen, at 87 years old still on the move, here in the “European author” version (could be a French film from the 50s and 60s) combines black comedy and crime drama in the style of Match Points.

Some will say that for the author of Manhattan it is a minor film. There were marginal films with such malice and acumen in the analysis of the human soul. And with an applause-worthy ending.
