A new twist in the Canadian rape scandal – the names of the NHL players came out

Canada has recently been rocked by a gang rape scandal.

Police in London, Ontario, Canada asked five Canadian hockey players to surrender to the police department. Now, according to TSN, the names of the players in question have come out.

According to TSN, those who play in the NHL Carter Hart, Michael McLeod, Dillon Dube and Cal Foote have been instructed to surrender to the London Police. According to TSN, they can be charged with sexual violence.

Their lawyers did not comment on the matter to TSN.

The players are believed to surrender before the police hold a press conference on the matter. London police said they will hold a press conference on Monday, February 5.

The players stepped aside from club activities before the Globe and Mail reported that five players from the Under-20 World Cup gold team had been ordered to surrender by London police. The Globe and Mail reported on the matter on January 24.

The names of the players were not made public at the time. Earlier on Tuesday, a former NHL player Alex Formenton24, turned himself in to the police and swore his innocence.

NHL players

Hart, 25, is in his sixth season in the NHL and serves as the first point guard for the Philadelphia Flyers. He will make $3.9 million this season. The Flyers attributed his absence to personal reasons.

Dube, 25, is also in his sixth season in the NHL and is in the second year of his three-year contract with the Calgary Flames. He will make $2.3 million this season. The Flames said in their release that Dube will be absent from the team’s activities due to mental health issues.

McLeod; 25, represents the New Jersey Devils. His annual salary is $1.4 million. Foote, 25, is an NHL legend Adam Foote son and has played four games in the NHL in the Devils shirt this season. The club has not stated the reasons for the players’ absences.

Formenton plays in Switzerland, but left his club. He is the first player to say that he was involved in the events related to the alleged crime.

A woman is accusing five players of Canada’s World Junior Gold Team of sexual abuse that allegedly took place in June 2018. The woman filed a lawsuit against the Canadian Hockey Association in 2022.

TSN previously reported that one of the players allegedly took the woman to a hotel room, where he had sex with her. According to legal documents, the player had allegedly invited other players into the room without the woman’s consent. After that, the woman was subjected to sexual violence.

London police investigated the case before closing it in February 2019.

TSN reported that the Canadian Hockey Association quietly settled the matter in May 2022. London police reopened the investigation in July 2022.

The players have not yet been found guilty of any crime.
