The gold medalist made an important call.

Frida Karlsson’s feelings were unleashed as she won the 50 kilometer free competition on the closing day of the World Cup.

Karlsson grabbed the phone in the finish and started crying. At the other end of the handset was a good friend and teammate Linn Svahn.

The Svahn World Championship trip ended before the first race when he received a concussion during the training in Trondheim.

– Linn was crying on the phone, so I started crying too. He said “we did it.” It felt great that I was able to do this too, Karlsson said.

Ebba Andersson also cried in the finish, but for a different reason. He crashed at the end of Sunday’s race and missed the medal.

– Ebba was really disappointed. I hugged him and said he had a great World Championship. He is certainly proud of his performance when he gets home, Karlsson said.

Andersson won three gold medals in Trondheim.

Karlsson was completely muted by his own achievement. Personal value race was the first for a 25-year-old skier.

– I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. It feels really, really good.

– This was definitely the hardest race ever. It felt great to cross the finish line.

Heidi Weng, Norway, was second in the race. Therese Johaug, who ended his value career, was third.
