This Friday it is the day we celebrate love. And that love can arise anywhere. Omroep Brabant spoke four couples who got to know each other in a special place.

Car trouble, or happiness?
In 2013, Autopech ensured that Evelien (35) from Goirle got to know her husband Mark (42). She drove over the Ringbaan West in Tilburg in the evening when her Volkswagen Beetle from 1982 suddenly stopped. Evelien called her father for help. “He said that a friend of him lived in the neighborhood, whose neighbor did know how to handle beetles. He called them to come and help me,” says Evelien.

Not long after that neighbor boy, one mark, hung with a flashlight under Evelien’s car. She immediately found him attractive. “I was shaking there and full of emotion. That was our first meeting,” she looks back laughing. Mark managed to repair her car, but unfortunately the two lost sight of each other afterwards. Evelien already had a relationship with someone else.

But in 2015, when Evelien’s relationship was out, she came across Mark on a dating app. She decided to send him a message. “He thought I had a relationship, so Mark did not respond to my messages. Only when he came across my father once and heard from him that I was single did Mark dare to respond to me.” And the rest is history.

Casual encounter
Thanks to two accidental encounters, Mirthe (18) and Milano (17) from Oudenbosch are in love with each other. Mirthe saw him standing at the fair in Roosendaal last summer. “I told my girlfriend that he looked like a nice boy,” says Mirthe.

When the two girlfriends were on the train for a moment, that nice boy suddenly passed by. “He also got on the train and came to sit with us. We started talking to each other. It clicked well,” says Mirthe.

When they said goodbye, they did not exchange any data. Fortunately they met less than three days later, in exactly the same place. “I got on the train and I suddenly saw him sitting there. After a nice conversation we added each other on Snapchat. We have started chatting and since then it has been on. We have had a relationship for almost five months now.”

During the parade
For many people from Brabant it will be a well -known story: you are in your most beautiful Pekske on carnival music and suddenly bump into a new love. That also happened to Annemieke (42) from Tilburg. She met her current friend during the carnival in Breda. “My relationship had just finished, so I went to the parade with a group of my former colleague,” says Annemieke. And there, looking at the beautiful carnival cars, there was also French (34).

At Annemieke the spark did not immediately skip, but at Frans it did. “I arrived with some beers and apparently he was immediately interested. When we were at the harbor market in the evening, he asked if he could kiss me.” Soon several dates followed and the spark also skipped at Annemieke. Next carnival the couple will be together for five years.

In the Bijenkorf and at school
The story of Joan (57) and Hanneke (57) from Eindhoven goes a little further back in time. To the summer of 1991 to be precise. He then worked at De Bijenkorf and one day was introduced to his new colleague, Hanneke. She immediately impressed Joan, but he didn’t do anything else with it. “She just came back from her honeymoon,” Joan recalls. Joan and Hanneke became friends and regularly visited each other. “I went to her maternity visit, she has been to my wedding.”

After a few years the friendship, they lost sight of each other. Until about thirteen years ago. Both Joan and Hanneke had been separated for a while. Their children went to study for the first time. “Her youngest and my oldest child went to SintLucas in Eindhoven. We were therefore invited for an introductory afternoon. And there we suddenly saw each other again,” says Joan. “Then we agreed to drink coffee. And we still do that coffee.” The couple has been together for thirteen years.
