Chisinau/Tiraspol (dpa -AFX) – The Pro -Russian region Transnistria in the Republic of Moldova does not help the EU and relies on a gas loan from Moscow. Since February 1, Transnistria has received 26.275 million cubic meters of gas as humanitarian aid from Europe, the head of the renegade region, Wadim Krasnoselski, said on Telegram. “We are grateful to the EU officials for the help they have achieved that we have allowed to restore the Republic’s energy system in this phase.” In the future, however, Transnistria will receive its gas with the help of a Russian loan.

Specifically, the supply through the Hungarian company Met Gas and Energy Marketing AG should run. The group is paid through a trading agency in Dubai, which apparently has further connections to Moscow.

Moldova does not block gas deliveries

From the Moldova border to the River Dnister, the border to the separatist area, the state energy supplier Moldavagaz takes over the transport. Moldaus Prime Minister Dorin Recean confirmed a corresponding agreement, but made several conditions on it. Political prisoners in the region are to be released, the border control point is to be dissolved and the transmission operation of public-law Moldovan broadcasting should be maintained.

At the beginning of the year, Russia had hired gas deliveries to Moldau for alleged debts. This should make the politically striving Moldova leadership. However, the stop had the hardest in the transistria that has been split off since 1992; There are still Russian soldiers there. For many of the 350,000 people, electricity, gas and heating had to be switched off.

The EU has promised Moldova to overcome the energy crisis and the dependence on Russian gas 250 million euros. Transnistria was promised 60 million euros at the same time. The leadership in Tiraspol has now waived this money./Bal/dp/tih
