“Giant”, is how NH weatherman Jan Visser describes the wind gusts from storm Eowyn. “It’s extremely terrible there, you can say that.” Things are particularly intense in the northern part of Ireland. For us it is ‘kind of a joke’ if you compare it with Ireland, says Visser. “It is stormy, but no wind violence like in Ireland.”
‘No hurricane violence’
However, the wind is strong in our province, especially in the coastal area. “It may be stormy during the afternoon, but there is no hurricane force.” The weatherman expects wind gusts of up to 85 kilometers per hour at the end of the afternoon. “That is mainly in the Noordkop and on Texel. For the rest it is not too bad.”
Furthermore, today it is cloudy and rainy, with temperatures of about 9 degrees. The wind will gradually decrease in strength in the afternoon. The night is quiet and remains largely dry.
Flights cancelled
People who have a flight to Ireland or the United Kingdom must take into account that flights may be cancelled. In any case, flights from Schiphol to Ireland (Cork, Dublin), Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen) and Northern Ireland (Belfast) have been canceled.
