Rijkswaterstaat reported this just after 4 p.m the work have been completed.
The closure was necessary because cracks were discovered during an inspection on Friday in the bridge next to the discharge sluices near Lelystad. During the closure, the bridge’s supporting structure was repaired. This involved work on the underside of the bridge and the road surface, which temporarily made traffic impossible. Freight traffic has not been allowed on the Markerwaarddijk since Friday afternoon.
In principle, the dike would be closed until 3 p.m. Traffic was advised to temporarily detour via Amsterdam.
