Jan Slagter watches Bar Laat, the current late talk show of NPO 1, with great feelings of disappointment. He doesn’t like it at all. “And they blame Eva Jinek!” shouts the MAX boss.
According to Jan Slagter, we can now conclude that predecessor Op1 was not that bad. In any case, the viewing figures for that talk show were better than those of Bar Laat. “There was a lot of criticism of Op1 at the time, but in any case it did much better than Bar Laat,” says the boss of Omroep MAX in the radio show Humberto.
Eve’s fault?
Bar Laat would kill for Op1’s viewing figures, Jan thinks. “Half a million people watched it, but sometimes it reached 600 to 700 thousand viewers. I haven’t seen Bar Laat do that yet.”
According to him, it is simply not a strong program, despite the involvement of Jeroen Pauw. “I sometimes look at it and think: what am I looking at? I often don’t like the choice of guests and then people say: ‘Yes, but Eva takes away all the good guests.’ I don’t think that’s an argument, because there are still good guests to be had.”
Confusing
It may also be the format of the talk show, says Jan. “I don’t know what it is. Their formula at first was that they start with you to touch on that subject and then: ‘We’ll come back to you in a moment, now we’re going to you.’ I think that is a very bad thing.”
“I just want to know what you have to say right away. It’s confusing.”
