The even more challenging stages

There competition will start from Bergamo with an individual time trial of 12.2 km. The departure will be from the city’s new smart district, ChorusLife, and the route will also touch the upper city before ending on the Sentierone, where the winner will wear the first Maglia Rosa. Already from the second stagehowever, the route becomes challenging. The Clusone-Aprica, 99 km long, features a long but pedalable climb towards Aprica, a first test for the athletes’ legs. The third stagefrom Vezza d’Oglio to Trento (124 km), could favor the sprinters, but the Cima Alfonsina Strada, or Passo del Tonale (11 km at 6%), could mix up the cards.

The climbs that will challenge the athletes

The climbs are once again the protagonists in the fourth stagethe Castello Tesino-Pianezze (Valdobbiadene) of 156 km. The uphill arrival in Pianezze will be a test for the climbers. Space for fast wheels in the fifth stagethe 108 km Mirano-Monselice, completely flat. The Po Valley, however, could hide pitfalls, such as the wind and the need for an impeccable team strategy to avoid a sprint finish. The sixth stagethe Bellaria-Igea Marina – Terre Roveresche (Orciano di Pesaro) of 144 km, presents an undulating route, a stage suitable for attackers and for those who want to surprise the favourites.

Seventh decisive stage

There seventh stagethe Fermignano – Monte Nerone of 157 km, will be decisive for the general classification. The final climb of Monte Nerone, with its 15.2 km with constant gradients between 7 and 10%, will crown the queen of the mountain and could outline the final podium. In the end, the eighth and final stagefrom Forlì to Imola (138 km), repeats the route of the 2020 World Championship, with an exciting finale at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.

The talented athletes to watch

The list of main competitors of the Giro d’Italia Women 2025 will include some of the most talented female cyclists in the worldmany of which have already made the history of women’s cycling in previous editions.
