Joshua Kimmich’s contract expires in the summer. On Saturday, Bavaria’s sports director Max Eberl commented on this – as did the person concerned himself.
Will Joshua Kimmich stay at FC Bayern or will he change clubs? This question is still not clarified and has a lot to do with appreciation (you can read more about the reasons here). The top performer’s contract with the German record champions expires in the summer. Now the 29-year-old has come forward about this.
After Munich’s narrow 1-0 win at Borussia Mönchengladbach, the captain of the German national team explained on the Sky microphone regarding a possible contract extension: “Of course there are many good reasons for it.” At the same time, he emphasized that for him it was a “fundamental decision”. However, the chance of him extending is “significantly greater than in the summer”.
For Kimmich, the sporting perspective is particularly important: “It’s primarily about sport. Where can you have maximum success in the next few years?” The development of the team plays a central role. The future of national team colleague Jamal Musiala, whose contract runs until 2026, also influenced his decision: “It’s definitely a factor: What will the team look like in the next few years? Of course it plays a role what one or the other does.”
Another reason for Kimmich’s positive trend seems to be coach Vincent Kompany, whose work he expressly praised. Kompany does a “very, very good” job and he enjoys his style of play.
On Saturday, Bayern’s sports director Max Eberl said in relation to the expiring contracts (read more here) of some stars: “We talked a lot before Christmas. We will have the next discussions in the next few days and weeks. There are none Unrest among us.”
