It was the week of New Year’s Eve and with it oliebollen, fireworks, carbide shooting and New Year’s wishes. But more happened in Drenthe.

First let’s look at New Year’s Eve and the deafening noise that accompanies it. The fireworks were set off eagerly and this is reflected in the sales figures.

In the end it was a relatively quiet New Year’s Eve in our province. No fireworks victims arrived at Drenthe hospitals and the fire brigade had a relatively quiet night.

On Thursday we leave the closing and closing of 2024/2025 behind us. We go to Eelde. The Northern Motor Show is on the agenda in the auction halls in two weeks. Preparations are in full swing, but it is still uncertain whether the event will take place this year. There is still no permit and the question is whether one will be granted.

A day later, the pharmacies attract attention. Thousands of employees are going on strike again. Trade unions FNV and CNV are organizing the campaign for a new collective labor agreement. Thousands of pharmacies in the country will therefore be closed on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 January. Employees demand higher wages and lower work pressure. People who need medication urgently may have to go to another pharmacy.
