De Bruyckere and Corsus entered the second round with a 15-second lead over Seppe Van Den Boer. Canadian Ian Ackert led a chasing group that also included Kenay De Moyer, Viktor Vandenberghe and the Dutch Guus van den Eijnden, David Haverdings and Danny van Lierop. Seppe Van Den Boer was joined by David Haverdings at the start of the third round, while behind this duo Ian Ackert and Guus van den Eijnden had found each other.
Over half cross, De Bruyckere shook off Yordi Corsus and Keije Solen had climbed to third place after a brilliant recovery. Haverdings and Van Den Boer rode behind the Dutchman. Nothing would change in these positions and in this way Kay De Bruyckere completely took control.
