Supporters commemorate Bouterse: ‘We want Bouta!’, party apologizes for ‘censorship’ of journalists

Thousands of supporters and party members commemorated Desi Bouterse, the deceased honorary chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP), on Friday evening in Paramaribo. In the hall of the party center in the Surinamese capital, there were performances by musicians from various population groups, while a large screen showed photos of Bouterse as government leader, commander, party chairman, athlete and family man. Bouterse will be cremated on Saturday.
