The fire services of Kuurne, Harelbeke and Heule got the fire under control quickly enough to save even more vehicles from fire and smoke damage. Surrounding houses were also saved from the fire. The residents were evacuated and part of De Kattestraat was closed to traffic for a while.
A fire expert is now investigating the precise circumstances and location of the fire. According to the initial findings, it would have been a deliberately lit fire, which the public prosecutor’s office confirms.
