FC Bayern and Manuel Neuer “close to agreement”

After Manuel Neuer already revealed at a fan club meeting at the weekend that it would probably mean an extension for him at FC Bayern, a report is now making the rounds according to which the Munich team and the keeper are close to reaching an agreement. However, there is worse news for Alexander Nübel, who is currently on loan from FCB to VfB Stuttgart.

Everything currently indicates that Manuel Neuer will extend his contract with FC Bayern, which expires at the end of the season. This may even happen in the near future, because according to information from “kicker”, “both parties are close to reaching an agreement by 2026”. The trade journal learned this from Bavarian circles.

However, Neuer’s imminent extension also comes with considerations about what will actually happen in the goalkeeper position after the 2025/26 season. Then Alexander Nübel returns from his loan from VfB Stuttgart, but apparently that doesn’t mean that Nübel will then be in the goal of the record champions.

Because as the “kicker” continues to write, people in Munich are thinking about completely repositioning themselves between the posts after Neuer’s career ends in mid-2026. Nübel is not automatically the successor to Neuer.

Neuer’s successor: FC Bayern thinks multi-pronged

The 28-year-old, who joined FC Bayern four and a half years ago, but has since only played 360 minutes in the FCB uniform and was/is on loan most of the time, must continue to show that he also has the class for the Munich team.

Accordingly, the prevailing opinion of Bayern bosses is currently that Neuer is still better than Nübel – despite being almost 39 years old.

The next 18 months will be even more important for the goalkeeper, who is on loan to VfB.

It is also quite possible that another candidate to succeed Neuer at FC Bayern will emerge in the background as early as the summer.

Because as the trade journal also found out, the record champions are also thinking about signing a young, wild player and building them up in the background.

A very hot candidate: Jonas Urbig from 1. FC Köln. The rumors about the U21 national goalkeeper are getting hotter.
