The extremely productive chillwaver, whose real name is Chaz Bear, just released a new record, HOLE ERTH, on September 6th.
Thomas Winkler wrote about the album by the US musician, who was born in 1986, among other things: “A nasty scraping is replaced by sweet harmony singing, which suddenly turns into an elegant rap, which is underpinned by a pulsating electronic beat, which is repeatedly intersected by sparse keyboard surfaces . In the opening track “Walking In The Rain” alone, Toro y Moi chops up half a dozen genres in three minutes and puts Frank Ocean and Tyler, The Creator in his pocket, while he not only slightly cynically drowns every emerging Parisian romance in the rain that gives the song its title.
