Iron Maiden’s drummer Nicko McBrain ended his decades-long gig over the weekend. McBrain performed with Iron Maiden for the last time in São Paulo, Brazil.
McBrain toured together with Iron Maiden for 42 years. McBrain has said that he will, however, continue to work with the band on various projects.
The last concert in Brazil contained emotional moments. The frontman of the band, Bruce Dickinson, became emotional while talking to the audience about McBrain’s retirement before the third song to be performed.
– This evening is special. As you all know, we announced earlier today that Nicko will be retiring from performing live, Dickinson began.
– Nicko has been in this band for 42 years. He was a drummer before I was a singer, he was a pilot before I was a pilot. He’s not leaving the band, but he just doesn’t play live with us anymore, the soloist continued.
At the concert, Dickinson hoped that the band and the audience would enjoy the last moments together with this lineup.
New drummer
Iron Maiden announced their new tour drummer over the weekend. Will play with the band in the future Simon Dawson. He has previously been seen in bands such as British Lion and The Dead Soul Communion.
Iron Maiden will arrive in Finland next year. The concert is part of the ensemble Run For Your Lives– world tour. The concert will take place at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium on Monday, June 16, 2025.

Next year it will be 50 years since the Iron Maiden band was founded. The band was founded by bassist Steve Harris. In honor of this, a special playlist has been promised for the tour’s shows, which includes songs from Iron Maiden’s first nine studio albums. From Iron Maiden to Fear of the Dark.

Iron Maiden has sold more than 100 million albums. Their most famous songs include, among others The Trooper, Fear of the Dark and Run to the Hills.
The band last toured in Finland in the summer of 2023 at Nokia Arena in Tampere. Iron Maiden has previously performed at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium in 2008, 2011 and 2013.
