It has been causing great irritation for a month now that Linda de Mol’s character and her friends drink so incredibly much in Gooische Vrouwen. If someone is sitting on a chair at a table, there is a glass of wine on the table as standard. She would encourage people to drink alcohol, is the criticism, and political celebrity Henk Krol agrees.

Henk is pissed

Henk is currently on the celebrity panel of the Story and expresses strong criticism of Linda in that role. “Yes. I think that’s a shame. Such a series can have a huge influence. I used to talk to Marjan Berk, who wrote many series, about whether she could write a normal homosexual character. That’s what she did then,” he explains.

He continues: “A series has the task of raising awareness in society. Gooische Vrouwen should drink, but they could also have emphasized the problematic nature of drinking instead of portraying the fun.”

Dries disagrees

There is also someone on that Story panel who stands up for Linda, namely drunkard Dries Roelvink. “As a wine lover, it is difficult for me to say that less alcohol should be consumed in the series. I always say, ‘Life is too short to drink bad wine.’”

Actress Liz Snoijink argues for a compromise. “They can take it into account for the next season. Especially now that they are aware of the criticism. Because they must be careful not to unintentionally promote alcohol consumption. There are also Gooise women who do not drink. I should know, because I am one myself.”
