According to consistent reports, Cologne’s storm talent Justin Diehl is moving to VfB Stuttgart. As first reported by “Bild”, the 19-year-old attacker has agreed with the Swabians about a transfer in the summer. According to “Sky”, the medical check has already been completed and Diehl is signing in Stuttgart until 2029. There is no transfer fee for the German U-national player as his contract with FC ends after this season.

Diehl didn’t play a role for the Cologne professionals for a long time this season because former coach Steffen Baumgart deliberately chose not to use the youngster – because of his lack of commitment to his youth club. “This boy played at this club for 12 years, he was born in this city, he was there from the very first day I was here, from the very first training session since I became head coach. Nevertheless, there is a very clear statement from him that he no longer wants to work with us next year. “The question therefore arises: Why doesn’t he want to play in the Bundesliga in his hometown, at the club where he grew up?” Baumgart said at the end of November.

After the coaching change to Timo Schultz, Diehl played 158 Bundesliga minutes spread over six appearances. Previously, he scored twelve goals and nine assists in 19 appearances for the reserves. He is currently suffering from a muscle injury. Back in January, “Kicker” reported on talks between Diehl and VfB. According to “Bild”, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen were also interested in signing him.
VfB has once again made a name for itself as a good development center for young players in recent years, and club boss Alexander Wehrle also knows Diehl from his time in Cologne. VfB is also said to be interested in Hertha talent Ibrahim Maza (to the news).
