The Institute for New Social Sculpture, in cooperation with the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam, is organizing its own mini-festival, which, with an extensive music and supporting program, commemorates how 500 Jews fled the GDR 71 years ago.
Last year there was the first premiere edition of “Jüdische Ossis”, now the second issue follows on March 16 and 17, 2024.
The topic is the crises of the present. The organizers say:
“The massacre of October 7th plunges not only Israeli society, but also the diaspora into crisis. The eruption of anti-Semitic violence in the wake of the massacre makes the question of whether one can live in Germany more virulent than it has been since the post-war period. The upcoming state elections in East Germany also cast ominous shadows: surveys show that around a third of East Germans intend to vote for the AfD. At the same time, there is no end in sight to Russia’s war against Ukraine. And attention to it is increasingly dwindling.”
There will be readings, discussions and music in the rooms of the Hans Otto Theater. There is a complete program HERE.
