In the incident that took place in Zeytinburnu on February 29, 2024, Kerem Aktürkoğlu, who was driving home after the Galatasaray – Fatih Karagümrük match held at Seyrantepe RAMS Park, had an argument with those in another car about giving way, which started on the Golden Horn bridge and ended in Zeytinburnu. The suspects stopped Kerem Aktürkoğlu by blocking his way in Zeytinburnu. While there was a verbal argument between the 4 people in the car and Kerem Aktürkoğlu, the incident was recorded by a citizen with a mobile phone camera.
Upon the complaint of national football player Kerem Aktürktoğlu, an investigation was opened by the Public Security Branch Directorate, Extortion Bureau. During their investigation, the police determined the license plate of the car that escaped after the incident and the identities of its occupants. The suspects were caught during the operation.
Suspects KD (22), MK (37), ST (36) and AO (39) were brought to the Public Order Branch Directorate in Gayrettepe and questioned about the incident. It was determined that the suspects had many previous criminal records. It was determined that one of the suspects, MK, had 7 previous criminal records for crimes such as disturbing the peace, intentional wounding, and threatening. It was learned that the other suspect, ST, had 7 criminal records for drug use, theft, endangering traffic safety, and possession of an unlicensed weapon. It was determined that the suspect AO had been detained 7 times before for negligent homicide, drug possession, obstruction of duty, and theft. It was revealed that the suspect KD was detained once for threatening.
It was learned that the suspects, who were processed at the Extortion Bureau, said that there was an exchange of insults during the incident and then they left the scene. The suspects, whose procedures were completed at the police, were sent to the courthouse.
