Top talent Tel extends his contract with FC Bayern

Mathys Tel plays an important role in FC Bayern’s future plans. He has now extended his contract with Munich.

FC Bayern has extended the contract with French offensive player Mathys Tel. The 18-year-old has signed a new contract until 2029, the club announced on Wednesday. His old contract was dated until June 30, 2027.

Bayern’s new sports director Max Eberl said about the extension with Tel: “He is an important building block for the future of this team, with him we already have the next generation of FC Bayern in our squad.” He will put a lot of exclamation points. “Here, at FC Bayern,” added Eberl.

Sports director Christoph Freund added: “Every club wants players like Mathys Tel: young, extremely talented, hungry and willing to learn.” The attacker himself was happy about the extension of his contract. “This contract extension means a lot to me,” said Tel. The city has become a home for him and his family. He gives “everything for this club and its fans.”

Tel’s departure was imminent

There had previously been isolated rumors about a possible departure of the top talent. French media quoted statements by his advisor Gadiri Camara that one had to look at all options if one did not feel that one was on the same path.

Tel plays an important role in FC Bayern’s future plans. Max Eberl also emphasized this at his presentation last week. On the one hand, we will look to find stars, said the new sports director. But it is also important to develop good players like Tel. Tel moved from Rennes to Munich in the summer of 2022 for a fee of around 20 million euros.
