Thomas Tuchel and FC Bayern celebrated a success against Union Berlin. But three professionals had to leave the field injured.
Three FC Bayern stars, Dayot Upamecano, Konrad Laimer and Joshua Kimmich, were injured in the home win against Union Berlin (1-0). Coach Thomas Tuchel announced an initial diagnosis for Upamecano after the game: the central defender had torn a fiber. “This is extremely bitter for Upa, and for us too. He was in absolutely top form, that hurts us a lot,” said Tuchel.
Upamecano had visible problems with his left hamstring and left the field after 45 minutes. New winter signing Eric Dier came in to replace him, making his debut at Bayern.
Laimer also injured his calf in the game and went down in the 86th minute. Kimmich suffered from shoulder pain. It is currently unclear whether the two will be present at the upcoming away game at FC Augsburg. Tuchel said: “Konni worries me a little more than Josh.”
