Comme des Garçons jumps on Friday truck

Comme des Garçons presents a collection created in collaboration with Swiss bag label Freitag.

The Japanese clothing manufacturer has joined forces with Freitag, Comme des Garçons announced on Monday. The collaboration results in a bag collection.

Designed by Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo, the capsule includes five bags made in Japan and made entirely from discarded truck tarpaulins – as is typical for Freitag bags. Functionality is the focus of the models, which are characterized by their colorful design.

“As Comme des Garçons, we have always enjoyed it when minds and creative values meet and the result of the coming together is greater than the sum of its parts,” said Adrian Joffe, CEO of Comme des Garçons. “I have been working with Freitag for many years. They were among the first to take a hard look at the recycling and sustainability issues facing the world today.”

‘Holidays with Freitag’ is available now at select Comme des Garçons stores and fashion retailer Dover Street Market. The prices of the models range between 207 euros for a shopping bag and 414 euros for a messenger bag.

All bags, including the 'Tote Bag', were made from old truck plagues.
