For the first time since 2016, PSV is again among the best 16 teams in Europe. After a sensational win over Seville, the Eindhoven team are wintering in the Champions League. November 29 will go down in history at PSV and that is more than right because as Peter Bosz concluded afterwards: “What we achieved is extremely impressive.”
PSV rose from the dead on Wednesday evening. With a 2-0 deficit, no one would have thought that the Eindhoven team would come back into the match. But the impossible happened. Partly due to a red card for Sevilla player Ocampos, PSV turned the entire match around.
“This was a bizarre evening,” Peter Bosz reflected. Moments earlier, the trainer had gone completely crazy along the line at Ricardo Pepi’s winning goal. “You know it must be strange after that 2-0 if you still want to win. But things are going strange. That’s fantastic.”
“Sometimes you need luck and we had that today.”
Because Arsenal won 6-0 against RC Lens later in the evening, PSV is also certain that it will finish second in the group and therefore continue in the Champions League. The last time PSV achieved that was in 2016. It shows how great the achievement is.
Compliments should also be given to the trainer and the purchasing policy of technical director Earnest Stewart. Not for the first time, the substitutes made the difference in the match against Sevilla on Wednesday evening. Peter Bosz also dares to make risky changes by opting for an all-or-nothing tactic after the red card. PSV has had a wide selection again in years and that pays off immediately.

Substitute Ricardo Pepi became the match winner in injury time. He was one of the players brought in after the red card and felt that something special could happen. “I already told Patrick van Aanholt that this was going to be our moment. In February, PSV will be among the best 16 teams in Europe. They will then meet a group winner and already know that it will be a tough task to continue. But no one will worry about that now. Certainly not Peter Bosz. “It is very impressive what we have achieved,” the trainer said afterwards. “Sometimes you need a little luck, and we had that today. But that doesn’t make it any less beautiful. It is a historic evening.”
