The Economist Carlos Rodriguezhead of the president-elect’s council of economic advisors Javier Milei, announced his resignation from the position as a result of the homophobic comments he made in a television interview. The former vice minister of Economy of Carlos Menem, assured that he has a “hormonal issue” upon seeing two gay men kissing.
“I hereby communicate my unwavering decision to terminate any formal relationship, real or presumed, of advice on economic matters in Freedom Advances“, the former advisor published this morning on his X account and added: “I think I will be much more useful to the cause of freedom if I can express my opinion freely without my ideas having to be associated with a political party or a person. I congratulate Javier Milei and all the members of LLA for the wonderful work they have done to transform our beloved country for the better.”
“If I see two men kissing, my stomach hurts. There is a problem, which you have to understand, it is testosterone. There is a hormonal problem,” Rodríguez explained to Luis Novaresio in a television interview on La Nacion +. In response to this response from the economist, the journalist remarked that “it hurt him more when a kid is kicked out of his house for being gay or not given a job.”
It was not Rodríguez’s only controversial saying in the television meeting. He also referred to the future of the country and assured that the Argentine people will have to suffer “so that they learn that things cost” because that is what happens in wars and “there is no other choice.” Regarding who will be appointed to the Economy portfolio, the former rector of UCEMA kept the mystery: “Nor Diana Mondino not even the vice president Victoria Villarruel “They know who it will be.”
