Take note: La Paternal is the neighborhood to come. Towards there, Chacarita was enlarged, with a cemetery in between, and today there are several gastronomic establishments that decided to settle in its peaceful little streets. The nice thing about getting into the bowels of Buenos Aires neighborhoods is finding certain little gems, as in the case of the former La Estrella drugstore property, with exquisite English industrial style architecture. There are offices, ateliers or warehouses of different brands and, right in the center, is Stern (it means star in German), a cafe/dining room run by Anabella Espósito.

The space is impressive, with very high ceilings, huge windows and a large open kitchen. It also has an outdoor terrace to enjoy sunny days. Their proposal is breakfasts, lunches and brunches. The counter displays the pastries of the day: viennoiserie, cinnamon rolls, croissants, alfajores and traditional Creole options such as cremonas and fat biscuits. There are classics
brunchers like the bagel (not quite a bagel, but delicious) with smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers; Croque Madame and Croque Monsieur; burgers and wraps.

At noon they serve homemade, healthy, seasonal cuisine, in generous portions at affordable prices. Uruguayan tenderloin, omelettes, milanesas (meat, chicken and eggplant), scrambled eggs, semolina gnocchi and pascualina are some of the classics on their menu. There are also generous bowls, such as the Green Bowl, with pearl barley, avocado, green leaves and poached egg.

Many of the vegetables on the menu come from gardens of the Faculty of Agronomy. All the raw materials are taken care of: artisan cheeses and yogurts, preserves, varieties of flour, carob, corn, rice, chickpeas, semolina, raw unprocessed honey, and they also make their own jams, granola and almond milk.

Keep an eye on their Instagram, there they announce when they make their Chori brioche: smoked chorizos (made in the patio with their own smoker), on brioche bread.
