Darmstadt jumps to first place

In the game between Darmstadt 98 and Dynamo Dresden it looked like a goalless draw for a long time. But then came Mathias Honsak – and secured his team the temporary lead.

SV Darmstadt 98 has reported back with a lucky punch in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga. The Hessians won 1-0 (0-0) on Saturday evening with a last-minute goal at SG Dynamo Dresden and after just a few hours pushed FC St. Pauli back from the top of the table. Joker Mathias Honsak scored the goal of the day in the third minute of added time.

Shoes prevented Dresden’s leadership

In a balanced early phase, both teams came to good conclusions. Dresden’s Patrick Weihrauch tried a free kick from the inside left position. Darmstadt goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen and the crossbar prevented Dynamo’s lead (16th) after a free-kick from Weihrauch. On the other hand, it was a deflected shot from Darmstadt Pfeiffer, who just missed his target (29′). Although the guests had significantly more shares of the game, the draw at the break was by no means undeserved for the home side.

After the change of sides, the guests got into the game better and put the Dresdeners under a lot of pressure. Dynamo goalkeeper Anton Mitryushkin saved several times in dire need. In the final phase, both teams were looking for a decision. Darmstadt’s Fabian Holland’s shot hit the crossbar (85′), Dresden’s Julius Kade missed the goal by just a few centimeters (89′).

With the last action of the game, the decision was made. After Dynamo failed to clear the ball several times in their own penalty area, substitute Honsak scored in the last minute of added time. As a result, Dynamo remained without a win in the seventh game in a row and is still in danger of relegation.
