Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann recognized after the 2-0 victory against Celta that during his injury, with the team’s poor results, he was “angry” to be off the field and “not being able to give one hundred percent” to his coach, Diego Simeone, who made him “the player he is today”.
“When I hear that (that Simeone had been discussed as coach of Atlético) I feel more angry because he was off the field and I couldn’t give one hundred percent on the field for him. He has made me the player I am today. Partly because of him, the club is at this level, and you have to enjoy a coach like that”he told ‘Movistar+’ after the match.
“Since his arrival there had not been a bad moment of this type and the fans have been very good with him and we are giving him back what he gives us on the pitch,” added Griezmann.
The French striker played the last half hour of the match, his second appearance after getting injured and relapsing, which has kept him out for two months, between one injury and another. “For me it is the first time that I have been away for a long time, with a little fear, but here I am, taking minutesgaining confidence with my hamstring, without pain, hopefully I can continue adding minutes”, said Griezmann, who was willing to “give his best, be it five minutes, twenty or sixty”.
For the French striker, the worst part of the injury was “not being able to help the team” and “not being able to enjoy football, the ball”. “For me it was all new and it has been a mixture of sadness, fear, that’s why now I’m really enjoying every training session, every minute.. It’s a huge joy to enjoy football again,” she added.
